A Musina family was attacked in their farmhouse on Wednesday morning (8 January) after five attackers presumably gained entry to their home through an unlocked back door.
The incident occurred at around 02:30. The owner, Mr Natie Vos, was bludgeoned with several objects and sustained serious injuries. He was taken via ambulance to the Netcare Pholoso Hospital in Pietersburg (Polokwane) for treatment.
His spouse, Jane Marie, was so seriously assaulted that her injuries required stitches. She was not hospitalised. The children are unharmed.
This incident once again highlights the need for constant vigilance, especially for people in rural areas.
The attackers stole, among other things, cell phones and firearms before fleeing the scene.
Local farm watches, including the Linton, Mopani and Tshipise Farm Watches, are cooperating with the police in searching for the suspects.
