The FF Plus is not surprised that there is an increase in service delivery related protest actions in Gauteng. According to statistics released by Municipal IQ this week, there were 218 service delivery related protest actions during 2019 in Gauteng alone.
The rise in service delivery related protest actions in Gauteng is a clear indication of people's desperation and frustration with municipalities' poor service delivery.
The FF Plus finds the number of protest actions that turn violent alarming. It does not bode well for the safety of the people in the province and the party expects that protest actions will increase even more after the Covid-19 lockdown.
The party wants to encourage people to join their local neighbourhood watches and community policing forums so that they can stay informed of any protest actions in their area.
