Restore and rebuild economic heartland of South Africa – FF Plus Manifesto for Gauteng

The FF Plus today announced its provincial manifesto and premier candidate for Gauteng.

The ANC has been governing Gauteng with just a one-seat majority since the 2019 provincial elections and in the 2021 local government elections, it failed to secure an absolute majority in the province.

The only way to get Gauteng back on the right track is to establish a coalition government after 29 May 2024, made up of the parties of the Multi-party Charter, which include the FF Plus.

The FF Plus already has a proven record of governing well as part of coalition governments in municipalities, and improving residents’ circumstances.

The FF Plus’s premier candidate for Gauteng, Mr Jaco Mulder, highlights in the party’s manifesto for the province ten focus points aimed at restoring and rebuilding South Africa’s economic heartland.

 1. Upholding and promoting Christian values;
 2. Establishing a coalition government in Gauteng;
 3. Restoring the economy and building wealth in Gauteng;
 4. Restoring power and water supply;
 5. Creating a safe living environment free of crime;
 6. Providing quality education and skills development;
 7. Recognising diversity, and promoting arts and culture;
 8. Promoting healthcare and social development;
 9. Ensuring effective local government; and
10. Developing infrastructure, roads and housing.

Gauteng may be South Africa’s smallest province, geographically speaking, but it is the most densely populated and comprises the country’s three largest metro councils: Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni.

After the general elections on 29 May 2024, greater decision-making capacity should be devolved to the economic heartland of South Africa, which also has the fourth largest economy in Africa.

With a multi-party coalition in power, the province can also draft its own constitution which would make Gauteng less dependent on national government.

The FF Plus has continuously been represented in the Gauteng Legislature since 1994 and will bring stability to the province, just as it has in the municipalities where the party has already proven itself to be a reliable coalition partner.
