The FF Plus will compel the Mangaung Metro to enforce the interim interdict it obtained on 2 March against illegal land occupants in the south of Bloemfontein, which includes Lourierpark.
It came to the FF Plus’s attention that although the interim interdict was granted on an urgent basis, and stipulates that any incomplete structures erected on the property as well as all building materials have to be removed and that the occupants have to leave the area, the Mayor, Mr Gregory Nthatisi, and his fellow ANC councillors have decided not to enforce the court order.
It is, however, not up to the Mayor or any councillor to make this decision. The property belongs to the Municipality, and the court order was obtained in public interest and should be enforced.
It has also been confirmed that the occupants were encouraged to settle in that specific area by none other than ANC councillors themselves.
The ANC is using this as an election gimmick to score cheap political points, so, it cannot afford to enforce the court order.
The FF Plus will approach the court to compel the Metro to enforce the order and request the National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, to ensure effective police action in this regard.
The ANC government created the housing crisis in South Africa, because even though it has had 30 years, it could not manage to meet the housing needs of South Africans.
And now the very same ANC is inciting criminality and illegal occupations because it is facing trouble at the polls.
Mangaung residents truly cannot afford to have the senseless and self-serving ANC remain in power.
