The FF Plus cannot support the EFF's motion to permanently appoint contracted cleaners and security personnel working in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature and other provincial departments.
The Gauteng local government's wage bill is already under pressure and in the current economic circumstances, it is simply not possible to appoint cleaners and security personnel on a permanent basis.
The party is of the opinion that appointing personnel permanently in an attempt to cut out service providers and employment agencies will not eradicate corruption and tender fraud. The existing legislation on corruption must instead be enforced more effectively and contracts should contain stipulations that protect the employees of the contractor.
The primary purpose of the Provincial Legislature in Gauteng is to serve the people of the province and not to function as some kind of an employment service.
