FF Plus requests that the SAPS acts on the continued violence and intimidation by the BLF even after interdict against the organisation was granted

The FF Plus strongly condemns the BLF’s racism towards white people, their intimidation of journalists and specifically the fact that Black First Land First (BLF) simply continued with such behaviour right after the court had granted an interdict in which it forbids the organisation’s members from harassing, intimidating, assaulting and threatening journalists, says adv. Anton Alberts, chairperson of the FF Plus.

According to adv. Alberts, numerous journalists mentioned during the court case that the police did not offer them adequate protection. Directly after the court proceedings, journalists complained that they were not feeling safe at that time and that they were wondering where the police were seeing as BLF members were crowding around them while shouting racist remarks.

The leader of the BLF, Andile Mngxitama, shouted at the head of SANEF, Mahlatse Gallens, that he would protect her against the white people – even though her organisation was the applicant for the interdict against the BLF.

“It is clear that the BLF is continuing with its narrative of blaming white people for all the problems in the country, a narrative taken from Duduzana Zuma, president Zuma’s son, and his spin doctor, Bell Pottinger.

“Even the ANC rejected the term during their policy conference, but no doubt racist and corrupt elements in society will continue to spread the narrative in order to draw attention away from themselves.

“The danger lies in the fact that more and more people are buying into this narrative, which was proven to be false, and that they are acting accordingly. For that reason, the FF Plus is going to take action against the creators of the false slogan,” says adv Alberts.
