Investigation into holiday club industry: Dates and the venue for Western Cape

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced that the Western Cape sessions on the investigation into the irregularities in the holiday club industry, will take place on 11 and 12 July in Cape Town.

The sessions will be held at the Cape Town Lodge Hotel and Conference Centre in 101 Buitengracht street, Cape Town. The contact number of the hotel is 021-422 0030.

According to adv. Alberts, the NCC appointed a panel of three members to investigate the main reasons for the consumer complaints in the timeshare industry.

The aim of the investigation is to identify the causes of the problems that consumers experience, to reach conclusions based on the facts and the evidence submitted to the panel by the consumers and then to make recommendations accordingly.

Adv. Alberts says that it is important for the public to fully support the investigative process. Registration forms for participation can be requested via email from Mr. Neels Hattingh of the FF Plus at neels@vfplus.org.za or he can be contacted by telephone on 012-772 4410.

“With the approval of the NCC, the FF Plus is now busy investigating the possibility of having the existing contracts be declared null and void by means of either a court order or an intervention by the Consumer Tribunal while the current investigation is ongoing,” says adv. Alberts.
