The Ekurhuleni Metro’s current property valuation roll lapses on 30 June, after which the Metro will start drafting a new valuation roll.
The FF Plus wants to encourage Ekurhuleni residents to carefully examine the notice of their property’s new valuation, should they receive such notice.
The new valuation roll will come into effect on 1 July 2025. And will remain valid until 30 June 2029.
The Municipal Property Rates Act stipulates that the date of the new valuation roll may not be more than twelve months before the new financial year commences.
After the drafting of a new valuation roll was announced, the FF Plus made it very clear that all increases should be realistic without exploiting residents or putting them under even more financial strain.
The FF Plus will keep an eye on the process to ensure that it is fair. The drafting of the previous valuation roll led to thousands of complaints being lodged, resulting in an administrative nightmare.
