What happened in Coligny indicates that the ANC government uses internal powers to destabilize the country, while the country's security is now also apparently in the hands of president Jacob Zuma, says Dr Pieter Groenewald, leader of the FF Plus.
Dr Groenewald said today during the budget vote debate for the department of state security that the minister of state security, David Mahlobo, has insulted himself by saying he has not yet read the secret report that cost former finance minister Pravin Gorhan his job while pres. Jacob Zuma has seen the report.
"The implications of what the minister says is that the president is in charge of state security. This means security matters are reported to the president and not to him. The minster must tell the people of South Africa who is in charge of the country's security.
"The minster says he is worried about rumours of foreign powers that are working to bring about a change of government in the country. It will in fact be a very good thing, but the FF Plus is much more concerned about internal forces destabilizing the country.
"I would like to refer specifically to Coligny. Two days before the planned march for service delivery, a man named Tebele was on the scene and warned businesses of coming problems. The minister will know what I'm talking about.
"What I'm saying with this is that the people of the country are not protected. The current government abuses internal forces to destabilize communities under a smoke screen of racism where criminals are used to loot, burn and scare communities.
"The minister must realize he serves South Africa, and not the president of South Africa. If he really wants to ensure the public's safety, he must steer away from political connections.
"Do your work minister, make sure intelligence reports are verified and that you as political head of your department read your reports before the president does, otherwise it means he is doing your job," Dr Groenewald said.
