The FF Plus in Limpopo is disappointed with the appointment of Ms Dorcas Mboyi as the new Mayor of the Makhado Local Municipality (Louis Trichardt) due to her poor service record.
Last Friday (3 November), the ANC’s national office made its final decisions about which of its mayors will be replaced seeing as the ANC had been unable to reach consensus regarding appointments since the local government elections in 2021.
With the ANC’s track record of underperformance and cadre deployment, the FF Plus is very sceptical about service delivery improving under the new appointment for Makhado.
Mboyi had served as the portfolio head of Technical Services in the Vhembe District Municipality since 2012, but was unable to resolve the serious service delivery problems relating to the ongoing water crisis affecting the towns of Louis Trichardt, Musina and surrounds.
The Vhembe District Municipality is responsible for supplying water to the residents of Louis Trichardt (Makhado) and Musina, which have been frequently plagued by serious water shortages for several years.
The FF Plus will continue to put pressure on the District Municipality to fulfil its legal obligation to supply potable water to the residents of the Vhembe District Municipality.
The residents of Louis Trichardt and Musina deserve better than the ANC.
