A sad day dawned for Tshwane Metro residents with the election of Dr Nisiphi Moya of ActionSA as the new Mayor.
ActionSA’s constant conniving in this regard has jeopardised stability in the Metro by placing it in the hands of a government which has already proven itself to be incompetent.
The former coalition government, of which the FF Plus was part, worked very hard to restore and rebuild Tshwane, and it is doubtful whether the new administrators will carry on the good work.
There is also a question mark hanging over the new Mayor’s ability to help manage the Metro’s finances.
In the past, she only repaid money which she obtained unlawfully from the Metro for travel and accommodation while working as an official after the matter came to light.
If an individual cannot be trusted to deal honestly with an amount of R10 000, it raises serious concerns about their handling of a budget the size of the Tshwane Metro’s.
The threat that senior officials, who helped to turn the Metro around, might be dismissed also does not bode well.
The FF Plus wants to assure Tshwane residents that the party will work harder than ever as opposition to keep a watchful eye on the new government and hold it accountable, where necessary.
