The dysfunctional parks department of the Ekurhuleni Metro in Kempton Park is preventing staff from doing their jobs properly.
The parks department in Plane Street, Kempton Park North, is tasked with maintaining the area’s public spaces, but its offices do not have an internet connection nor any working phones. Many of its vehicles are unlicensed and the grapple saw truck has broken down.
Meanwhile, public spaces are deteriorating quickly and residents fear that the overgrown areas may attract criminal activities.
The situation is a reflection of the utter lack of leadership in the ANC-controlled Ekurhuleni.
The FF Plus will not tolerate such mismanagement and will pose questions about the matter to the Mayoral Committee Member for Environmental Resources and Waste Management, Mr Leshaka Manamela, with the next council meeting.
The party will request that he intervenes at once to ensure that the department is fully functional.
Public spaces, such as parks, were specifically created to afford residents the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate nature.
Kempton Park’s loyal taxpayers deserve better.
