The Provincial Government Gazette nr 83, dated 12 January 2024, applies.
I hereby strongly object to the proposed re-demarcation which will result in Heilbron, Phiritona and surrounding farms (DEM6770) being removed from the Ngwathe Local Municipality (FS203) and incorporated into the Metsimaholo Local Municipality (FS204).
The proposed re-demarcation will not improve service delivery in the affected towns, on the contrary, service delivery will decline.
The Metsimaholo Local Municipality is already servicing an exceptionally large area.
Smaller, more remote towns, such as Deneysville and Oranjeville, already have poorer service delivery than, for instance, Sasolburg, where the municipal offices are located.
The re-demarcation will increase the service delivery area of the Metsimaholo Local Municipality, which means that there will be even more strain on the already inadequate resources at the Municipality’s disposal.
The additional funds that the Municipality may possibly collect from Heilbron, in terms of the re-demarcation, will not necessarily be used to benefit the Heilbron community. The Metsimaholo Local Municipality is a struggling entity which is unable to spend its own funds wisely in its own municipal area.
Incorporating Heilbron and surrounds will increase the financial burden on Metsimaholo and, consequently, Heilbron and other towns under Metsimaholo will be neglected and service delivery will continue to decline.
Due to the abovementioned reasons, I, the undersigned, hereby strongly object to the proposed re-demarcation aimed at incorporating Heilbron, Phiritona and surrounding farms into the Metsimaholo Local Municipality.
Please accept this as my official objection.
