The FF Plus welcomes the decision of the deputy minister of higher education, Mduduzi Manana, to resign after an incident in Fourways where he assaulted a woman, says Dr. Pieter Groenewald, leader of the FF Plus.
Dr. Groenewald says it is still regrettable that pres. Jacob Zuma did not act immediately and fired Manana, but that he waited until Manana resigned himself.
"Zuma was quick at replacing his finance minister. Here he was able to send out a strong message that violence against women and children is unacceptable, but once again he failed to prove this words with actions. This shows that he is not serious in combating violence against women and children," says Dr. Groenewald.
