The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) in the Tshwane Metro is proud to announce a project that will not only improve the living conditions of Wolmer residents, but also bring hope to a community that has been plagued by poverty and deplorable housing conditions for years.
During a recent oversight visit to the area, the Freedom Front Plus witnessed residents’ dire situation firsthand.
Many live in Wendy houses lacking proper fire safety measures. The use of gas in these structures significantly increases the risk of fires, which has already led to tragic incidents.
In collaboration with private institutions, the party has restored hope to the community by launching a renovation project for dilapidated dwellings on property owned by the Tshwane Metro.
The marketing manager of Wonderpark Shopping Centre has pledged R150 000 so their contractor, Den Donix, can repair and paint the Wendy houses and rental units.
The shopping centre has further undertaken to annually earmark an amount in its budget for upliftment initiatives.
Waste materials from the project will be recycled to be reused in future initiatives.
This forms part of the party’s job creation project, aimed at providing unemployed individuals with opportunities to enter the labour market.
The rental units managed by the Metro’s housing company have been neglected over the years and the Wendy houses are rarely renovated seeing as residents do not have the financial means.
This project marks the beginning of the Freedom Front Plus’s campaign aiming to improve the lives of the less privileged through collaboration with the community and local businesses.
The party invites everyone willing to get involved in the project and has expressed its gratitude to the companies already participating.
