The death of a second security guard at the dairy company Clover in Olifantsfontein during a violent and illegal strike is unacceptable and the FF Plus in Gauteng has urgently requested the Gauteng Police Commissioner, Lt.-Gen. Elias Mawela, to take decisive action against the strikers.
The security guard (56) died yesterday after strikers pelted him and three other security guards with stones. They also took his firearm from him.
According to reports, the first incident of this nature occurred on the 22nd of January when a security guard, Tsephe Molatsi, tried to protect a delivery vehicle against striking workers.
The strike has been going on since last year November at approximately ten Clover plants all over the country and is seriously disrupting production.
This strike, which has cost innocent people their lives, must not be allowed to continue and the police force must do everything in its power to put an end to it.
