Freedom Front Plus demonstrates responsible leadership by voting against reckless R3.8 billion loan in Johannesburg

The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) acted on principle during a Johannesburg Metro Council meeting and refused to support the ANC-led government’s proposed R3.8 billion loan from the German KfW Development Bank.

The DA, which recently demanded that Johannesburg be placed under administration due to financial mismanagement and service delivery collapse, ironically voted in favour of this loan. In doing so, they have placed billions of rands back into the hands of the same ANC administration they themselves describe as incompetent.

The ANC has repeatedly proven that public money is not safe under its management. Residents and taxpayers will ultimately have to repay this loan — most likely through increased tariffs and taxes.

Funds intended for service delivery are regularly diverted through corrupt tenders, political protection, and ANC networks. Johannesburg residents are already bearing the brunt of deteriorating infrastructure, poor service delivery, and financial decay.

ANC councillors welcomed the DA’s support with cheers, creating the impression of a new political partnership.

Entrusting the ANC with yet another multi-billion rand loan is reckless, especially since a large portion of the funds will be disbursed within six months while the ANC remains in control of Johannesburg.

The VF Plus remains the responsible alternative, standing for honest, transparent, and accountable governance.

The party puts taxpayers first and believes that every cent of public money must be used to restore Johannesburg, improve service delivery, and get the metro back on track.

On 4 November, voters have the opportunity to support the VF Plus and rid themselves of the ANC and its partners.

Dis ons tyd om Johannesburg reg te ruk.
