The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) demands that the Free State Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Baile Motswenyane, use all possible resources to investigate the motives behind the kidnapping of a 19-year-old learner from Martie du Plessis School in Bloemfontein.
This is particularly critical given reports that one of the kidnappers is a police officer.
The fact that a member of the police is linked to such a serious crime is an absolute disgrace and utterly shocking.
Free State residents are sick and tired of being plagued by a constant wave of crime – to make matters worse, some of these crimes originate from within the ranks of the police service itself.
The public should have every reason to see police officers as protectors, not as a threat to their children’s safety.
The Freedom Front Plus further calls on Lt. Gen. Motswenyane to provide the public with a comprehensive report on the incident, clearly indicating who was involved, the motive for the kidnapping, and what steps will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The community deserves justice without delay.
