During a recent council meeting, the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) advised the Tshwane Metro to manage its proposed long-term lease agreement for 33 properties in Sunnyside, Pretoria, with transparency and financial integrity.
The Metro has leased these properties in the past, but it often happened that rent was overdue, no maintenance was performed on buildings and tenants vacated the properties without notice.
The Freedom Front Plus in Tshwane want to reiterate that municipal properties should be managed responsibly, transparently and with financial integrity, within the constraints of the law and relevant policy.
The party insists that city assets have to be properly managed, as past mistakes should not repeat themselves.
The lease agreements should simultaneously benefit the Metro financially and serve the interests of residents.
The proposed lease agreement should ensure that the properties and infrastructure are returned to the Tshwane Metro Council in good condition at the end of the lease term.
The Freedom Front Plus will closely monitor the process and raise objections if there are any signs of maladministration, corruption or harm to the community.
The Freedom Front Plus advocates for responsible city management and sensible use of tax money.
