The latest attack on a 64-year-old woman on a farm in the Roossenekal area clearly demonstrates how vulnerable and exposed residents of rural areas are.
According to reports, the woman was shot through her bedroom window with an air rifle, sustaining injuries to her head and nose.
This attack follows shortly on the heels of the gruesome murder of the 78-year-old Mr Robert Stoltz on 1 May, just two kilometres from the scene of this crime.
No suspects have been arrested in connection with either incident.
The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) strongly condemns these attacks and their brutality, demanding that farm murders and attacks be declared a priority crime.
Decisive action should also be taken against political parties like the EFF that stir up emotions with inflammatory statements and singing of songs such as “Kill the Boer, kill the farmer”.
The party once again implores rural residents to remain vigilant, increase their security measures and join local security structures.
The Freedom Front Plus also expresses its condolences to Mr Stoltz’s friends and family.
