The FF Plus welcomes the response protocol agreement entered into by the Ekurhuleni Metro and the Public Protector (PP) on 8 October with the objective to, among other things, address unresolved service delivery problems.
Complaints and allegations relating to maladministration, corruption and other forms of misconduct can also be reported to the PP.
The agreement was signed by Ekurhuleni’s City Manager, Dr Imogen Mashazi, and the PP in an attempt to improve service delivery.
The FF Plus is of the opinion that this agreement will prove to be a watershed for residents who have been plagued by unresolved service delivery problems for very long due to, among other things, incompetent officials as well as inefficient and time-consuming processes for reporting and addressing problems.
The PP opened a satellite office at the Benoni Magistrate’s Court on 19 February this year as part of fulfilling its constitutional mandate to be more accessible to residents for lodging complaints.
By signing this agreement, the City Manager bound the Metro to effective management and service delivery.
The FF Plus wants to encourage all residents to make use of the opportunity and lodge their grievances.
