The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) shares the frustration of Centurion residents who have been without power since 4 April after a fire at the Brakfontein substation in Rooihuiskraal.
Violence, however, will not solve the problem. On the contrary, it will only delay repairs to the substation.
Power has been restored so some parts, Mall@Reds, Amberfield I and Amberfield II as well as parts of Rooihuiskraal, which had no power supply for the last eight days.
Rooihuiskraal Extension 5 and Heuweloord still do not have power, though.
The Mayor of the Tshwane Metro, Nasiphi Moya, paid a visit to the substation last Friday (11 April) and assured residents that the entire area’s power supply would be restored by that evening.
Residents subsequently prevented a delivery vehicle carrying new cables from gaining access to the substation. It delayed repairs with five hours.
This morning in Heuweloord, frustrated residents pelted motorists on the R55 with paving stones.
Repairs to a substation of this size usually take at least 14 days.
The Freedom Front Plus made arrangements for people who do not have power to use the freezer facilities of the Dutch Reformed church in Raslouw and asked the Burgerbox roadhouse to allow people to charge their phones there.
The cause of the fire is still unclear.
