President Jacob Zuma sets the example in wasting state funds

Everybody in South Africa are being asked to tighten their belts as a result of difficult economic times, but it apparently it does not apply to the president, whose wives live in luxury and are being transported at the cost of taxpayers, Dr. Pieter Groenewald, the FF Plus’ chief spokesperson on Police, said.

Dr. Groenewald said in his member statement in parliament that the minister of finance and his team are doing everything within their abilities to prevent South Africa from being downgraded to junk status.

He said that part of these attempts is to create circumstances where foreign investors will want to invest in South Africa and consequently assist in creating jobs.

“South Africa is currently being paid a visit by Standard & Poor’s to make an informed decision about the country’s ratings status. One then questions how it will be received if the people of Standard & Poor’s are to hear and read that at least eleven vehicles at a cost of R9 million has been purchased for president Jacob Zuma’s wives.

“Everybody in South Africa are being called upon to tighten their belts as a result of difficult economic times. When it however comes to the president, it is as if government is blind and allows him to live in absolute luxury.

“In parliament we hear about the need of the poor, but the wives of the president can live and be transported in opulence and luxury. It is totally unacceptable and the FF Plus asks that the minister of Police should be properly account for this,” Dr. Groenewald said.
