Poor management results in weekend without water for Nala and Matjhabeng

The poor management of ANC municipalities and Sedibeng Water has for the umpteenth time left residents of the Matjhabeng (Allanridge, Hennenman, Odendaalsrus, Ventersburg, Virginia, Welkom) and Nala (Bothaville, Wesselsbron) Local Municipalities without water supply.

The struggling water council failed to procure the necessary chemicals in time and is now shifting the blame to the provider in an attempt to pacify the community.

According to Sedibeng, the chemicals have now been procured, but the reservoirs first need to be filled up to ensure constant water supply. In the meantime, it seems that residents' taps will run dry this weekend.

This is the umpteenth water crisis, brought about by Sedibeng's failure to supply water to residents and municipalities, affecting Matjhabeng and Nala.

Both the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Lindiwe Sisulu, and Sedibeng have confirmed that Sedibeng Water is effectively bankrupt.

Municipalities are partly to blame for this as they are not paying their accounts with Sedibeng. And then paying residents are the ones suffering the consequences of the vicious cycle.

The FF Plus will raise the matter in Parliament and demand that the government intervenes at Sedibeng Water and announces how it plans to deal with the entity.

Sedibeng Water supplies water to municipalities in three different provinces and, thus, the entity's financial sustainability is a priority.

The ANC is unable to govern properly and, therefore, it must be removed at the polls in the upcoming local government elections.
