Despite the FF Plus’s warning in March this year that the Mopani District Municipality must settle its outstanding debt to Lepelle Northern Water (LNW), severe damage was caused in Phalaborwa by destructive fires over the weekend.
LNW penalised Phalaborwa with a 20% restriction on water supply and a shortage of water was one of the main factors hampering firefighting.
The party expressed its concern about the situation in an official letter to the acting Municipal Manager of the Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality (Phalaborwa), Dr Kgoshi Lucas Pilusa, and demanded urgent intervention.
The party’s request fell on deaf ears, so, the blame for the damage and losses must be laid at the door of the ANC-controlled municipality.
The water restriction is still in place.
Loyal taxpayers are bearing the brunt of the ANC’s mismanagement of the Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality and Mopani District Municipality.
Residents deserve better than the ANC.
