The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) has, as in the past, once again called on the ANC/EFF coalition in the Ekurhuleni Metro to maintain the road drainage systems in Kempton Park.
Over the past four years, the party has lodged numerous complaints with the stormwater and drainage department regarding the deteriorating and often non-functional stormwater infrastructure. However, the metro lacks the political will to maintain this infrastructure. This poses a risk to motorists due to flooded roads and the potential for sinkholes forming beneath them.
In Kempton Park, the stormwater drains have become clogged following heavy rainfall, which can lead to underground water erosion beneath the road surface.
This situation cannot continue, and the FF Plus holds the metro accountable for vehicles that are damaged. In many cases, homes are flooded, causing significant inconvenience to homeowners.
The Freedom Front Plus will not stop pressuring the metro to urgently begin cleaning the stormwater drains. Residents of Kempton Park pay taxes, and therefore the metro must deliver the services.
