The Mayor of the JB Marks Local Municipality (Potchefstroom and Ventersdorp), Mss Mapule Mataboge, today gave the assurance that proposals put forward by the FF Plus for the urgent repair and upgrade of infrastructure in JB Marks will form part of the Municipality's repair plan.
The repair plan runs over three months and the FF Plus's proposals were officially submitted to Mss Mataboge earlier today.
The submission of the proposals follows an oversight meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) earlier this week during which the FF Plus pointed out once again that infrastructure – particularly the infrastructure of Potchefstroom and Ventersdorp – is deteriorating at an alarming pace.
Mataboge had consequently requested the party to compile a consolidated list of proposals to be handed over today.
In its proposals, the FF Plus particularly emphasised the poor condition of the two towns' roads and the large number of streetlights that are not working and, thus, contributing to an unsafe environment.
The FF Plus will continue to closely monitor the process and will keep the pressure on to ensure that service delivery in Potchefstroom and Ventersdorp is prioritised. The party hopes that once the necessary repairs and upgrades have been made to the infrastructure, JB Marks will once again be a preferred destination for investors.
It is of the utmost importance for voters to stand up and stand with the FF Plus in opposition to the ANC in the upcoming local government elections so as to ensure that local governments do not remain dependent on repair plans and interventions to enable them to provide basic service delivery to the people.
The ANC must be removed from local government.
