The water scarcity in South Africa is a national crisis and politicians like Shaik Emam of the NFP and the Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Ms Pamela Tshwete, may not use it to try and score cheap political points.
South Africa is a dry country and, therefore, we must make use of every opportunity to address the problem.
In the world, Israel is the expert in water recycling and South Africa must seek advice from them in order to solve our water problem.
Israel recycles 90% of its water. If South Africa can do that, our water supply will double. After Israel, the country that is doing the best in terms of water recycling is Spain with 20%. Due to political and other reasons, however, South Africa is refusing to make use of Israel’s expertise.
When it comes to something like water, there is no place for political games. Water is life. Even NASA deems finding water extremely important.
The ANC government must get serious about water. Go and find the best methods to make more water available. Go to Israel and bring their technology to South Africa in order to supply the people of the country with enough water.
The ANC does not want to do this due to cheap politicking. They must just realise that when the country runs out of water, Wesbank won’t be able to help.
