After the FF Plus Youth's continued pressure on social media and after the party lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission, YES (Youth Employment Service) announced on Twitter on Thursday morning that white youths will now also be included in their job-seeking network.
Yes4Youth is an initiative that helps the private sector and the government collaborate to empower unemployed youth and to combat unemployment among the youth. President Cyril Ramaphosa launched the initiative.
Initially, white youths could not register on the network as it was only accessible to Black, Coloured and Indian people.
The network has now, however, undertaken to connect young white South Africans with companies that are willing to employ white youths regardless of the points that the companies would earn on their Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) scorecards if they were to appoint Black, Coloured and Indian youths.
Although the FF Plus does not agree with the principles of the draconian Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) policy, the announcement made by YES is indeed a step in the right direction. It is also a victory for unemployed white South Africans who did not have access to the labour market due to their skin colour.
In 2014, the FF Plus was the only party that voted against the amendment of the BEE legislation.
The FF Plus Youth deems this legislation to be unfair discrimination, specifically towards the Born Free Generation who was born after 1994 and thus cannot be held responsible for any inequality in South Africa.
The FF Plus Youth is still considering further steps to ensure that all young South Africans, particularly from minority groups, will have equal opportunities in South Africans. The FF Plus fights back against all forms of discrimination and is of the opinion that everyone must have equal opportunities.
