The FF Plus will do everything in its power to prevent the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) from using the Government Employee Pension Fund (GEPF) to finance public enterprises in any way, says adv. Anton Alberts, FF Plus parliamentary spokesperson for public enterprises.
According to adv. Alberts, the FF Plus has already consulted with a legal team that is willing to go to court in order to put a stop to any abuse of the fund. The legal team will act independently and on behalf of the pensioners.
He says that it is ‘irrational and insane’ to use public officials’ pension money to try and save captured public enterprises.
“As a matter of fact, the FF Plus is of the opinion that the directors, under whose management the public enterprises failed, should be held personally accountable for the financial losses, even if they need to use their own pensions to cover the losses.
“The FF Plus will not allow the same thing that happened to the Transnet Pension Fund to happen to the GEPF,” says adv. Alberts.
