FF Plus submits comments on proposed national health regulations and asks for regulations to be withdrawn

The FF Plus today submitted its comments on the proposed health regulations and asked that the regulations must be withdrawn in their entirety.

These proposed regulations were published in Government Gazette number 46048 of 15 March 2022.

In addition, the FF Plus also requested during a meeting with the Minister of Health, Joe Phaahla, last week that the regulations must be done away with.

The public outcry and other interested parties' reaction against the regulations demonstrate that there is widespread opposition to the regulations.

The FF Plus is of the opinion that the amendments come down to nothing but a transfer of power from one minister to another.

In this way, the ANC is trying to perpetuate its abuse of power under the state of disaster, which President Cyril Ramaphosa lifted on the 4th of April (this month) after 750 days.

The main aim of the proposed regulations appears to be replacing the Covid-19 state of disaster regulations.

The FF Plus expects that opposition against the regulations will gain momentum in the coming week after the deadline for public participation was extended on the 14th of April.

The process is shrouded in controversy after allegations that e-mails containing the public and other interested parties' comments were deleted. It resulted in pending legal actions on various fronts.

The Department of Health is already in a dire financial position due to corruption, maladministration and mismanagement, and legal costs related to medical negligence claims; so it cannot afford any further court cases.

It is important to form a united front against the ANC government's latest attempt at power abuse, and to stand together to ensure that the proposed regulations are nipped in the bud.
