It seems that the ANC in Limpopo is planning to replace three of its mayors in poorly performing municipalities in an effort to improve service delivery. Whether it will bear any fruit remains to be seen.
With the ANC’s track record of underperformance and cadre deployment, the FF Plus is sceptical about new appointments, but still hopes, nonetheless, that it will improve matters for residents’ sake.
Based on reports, the Executive Mayor of the Vhembe District Municipality, Dowelani Nenguda, the Executive Mayor of the Sekhukune District Municipality, Maleke Mokganyetji, and the Mayor of the Makhado Local Municipality, Samuel Munyai, will be stripped of their positions.
The FF Plus plans to continue applying pressure, which started in March this year when the party lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission (HRC) about the ongoing water crisis in Louis Trichardt and Musina.
A criminal complaint was also lodged against the Vhembe District Municipality, which is responsible for supplying water to these towns and surrounds.
The FF Plus will keep a close eye on the reshuffle and will continue to fight for residents’ right to basic service delivery.
