The FF Plus in Limpopo will force provincial government to take action, in accordance with relevant legislation, against municipalities that fail to meet their statutory obligations toward residents.
The FF Plus will also lodge criminal complaints against municipal officials who fail to meet their legal obligations and will assist communities to stand up against poor service delivery. It is time for the culture of mismanagement in municipalities to come to an end.
Communities have had enough of municipal failures, like pothole-ridden roads, garbage and sewage polluting water sources, poor electricity and water supply due to the collapse of infrastructure, to name but a few.
A rare exception is the Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality (Nylstroom, Naboomspruit, Vaalwater) that dismissed three officials on the 29th of January this year after a disciplinary process during which they were found guilty of misconduct.
On the other hand, the provincial ANC thought it would be a good idea to recall the former mayor of the Mogalakwena Local Municipality (Mokopane/Potgietersrus), Andrina Matsemela, and to redeploy her outside the Municipality.
The redeployment of ANC cadres from one municipality to the next is one of the biggest reasons why municipalities are failing.
The FF Plus wants to encourage despairing residents to make use of the opportunity afforded to them by the local government elections later this year to express their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs by punishing the ANC with its failed policy at the polls.
