The FF Plus in Gauteng strongly condemns Premier David Makhura’s call yesterday afternoon for all municipalities, provincial government departments and property owners to secure standing court interdicts in order to prevent illegal land grabs in Gauteng.
With his provincial address earlier this month, Makhura himself paved the way for land grabs to take place in Gauteng. During his speech, he openly expressed support for the national government’s policy of land expropriation without compensation.
The FF Plus strongly opposed Makhura thereon and made it very clear that the party will never support the expropriation policy, but will fight it on national, provincial and municipal levels.
The FF Plus is of the opinion that if the premier really was serious about not tolerating land grabs in the province, he would have turned his back on the ANC during his provincial address by not expressing support for the policy of land expropriation without compensation. But instead of doing that, he made sure that land grabs are now ensuing across the province.
Premier Makhura has thrown all landowners in Gauteng to the wolves and he is leaving them to their fate. He doesn’t care about what happens to landowners as he is putting the responsibility to take action squarely on the shoulders of municipalities and property owners.
