Serious allegations of death threats allegedly made by municipal workers of the Mbombela Local Municipality (Mbombela/Nelspruit, Barberton, Hazyview, Kaapschehoop, Skukuza, White River) against a member of the public must be urgently investigated.
Mr TJ Maré of We Care 4 Nelspruit, a local volunteer organisation, was busy with a clean-up operation in Nelspruit/Mbombela when officials in a municipal vehicle reportedly threatened him and his team.
The team of volunteers was picking up rubbish next to the R104 road at the Crossings centre. The area has been neglected by the municipal Community Services division for a very long time.
The officials allegedly threatened to kill them for taking away their jobs.
This is apparently not the first time that municipal workers have threatened We Care 4 Nelspruit.
Mr Maré recorded a video of the incident and posted it on social media, and he also filed a criminal complaint with the police.
The FF Plus takes this incident very seriously and will put pressure on the Mayor, Ms Sibongile Makushe, and the Speaker, Mr William Nkhata, to investigate the matter.
The party will also take up the matter in the Municipality's Committee on Community Services.
