The FF Plus has asked the Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko, to intensify the investigation into nine trucks that were torched near Heidelberg last Thursday evening.
The party also sent the same request to Lt.-Gen. Elias Mawela, the Gauteng Police Commissioner, and requested that all available resources and manpower must be used to apprehend the guilty parties.
The trucks were torched last Thursday night near Heidelberg on the N3 and R103 after they were forced to stop and then pelted with petrol bombs.
This kind of intentional damage to private property is unacceptable in the context of the country's poor economic growth due to the Covid-19 lockdown and the government's incompetence.
The FF Plus will keep putting pressure on the Police Commissioner to handle the case as top priority and also demands that police visibility on all main routes must be increased.
