The Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Mzwandile Masina, challenged the ANC to dismiss him after his nationalisation tweet and the FF Plus supports this.
The ANC in Gauteng's feeble reaction after Masina publicly showed support for the EFF leader, Julius Malema, points to division in the ANC and poor discipline among its leadership.
The ANC issuing a statement that Masina's tweet does not represent the party's policy and the instruction to close his twitter account are not a strong enough reproach from his party to keep him from making any more controversial statements.
The FF Plus is of the opinion that there are possibly underlying reasons for why Masina, also the regional chairperson of the ANC in Ekurhuleni, was not immediately removed from his office after the tweet.
As Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Masina cannot be allowed to make such radical statements. He is supposed to represent all population groups and economic progress, without exception, is of the utmost importance for the growth of every town and Metro.
The Ekurhuleni Metro Council's revenue comes mainly from minorities, thus, it is important that all residents and business enterprises co-operate to ensure that the region develops and grows economically.
The reform of the economy to favour the majority, as Masina puts it in his tweet, is unconstitutional and creates confusion.
The FF Plus will put pressure on the Gauteng provincial government and national government to ensure that the ANC holds the Mayor accountable for his radical statements.
