The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) has requested the Speaker of the Ekurhuleni Metro Council, Ms Nthabiseng Tshivhenga, to take steps against her EFF colleagues who delayed the annual State of the City Address by nearly two hours with their protesting against poor service delivery in the Metro.
Although service delivery is indeed a thorny issue in Ekurhuleni, the manner in which EFF councillors opted to demonstrate their dissatisfaction, with placards and unruly conduct towards fellow councillors, is unacceptable.
Ironically, the EFF and the ANC govern the Metro through a coalition, so, the EFF itself is to blame for the poor service delivery.
The Freedom Front Plus also asked the multiparty opposition, of which it is a member, to put pressure on the Speaker to ensure that order is maintained in council meetings.
