ANC government is failing South African citizens by not effectively guarding our borders

(Debate in Parliament: The ever-growing crisis of cross-border crime, immigration management failures in general, and the dire impact thereof on communities and the safety and security of the State)

The Department of Home Affairs is unable to effectively guard South Africa’s borders to prevent illegal immigration and the smuggling of goods across the border.

The ANC’s incompetence in this regard impacts South Africa in a much more drastic manner than is obvious at first glance.

It tolerates corruption and inefficiency, it promotes disorder and deterioration, it creates a fertile breeding ground for crime, it violates the rights of South Africans, and plays a fundamental role in facilitating a failed state.

In reality, South Africa is already a failed state that is unable to effectively guard its borders due to poor border control.

Over the past few years, the smuggling of stolen vehicles across the Limpopo River between South Africa and Zimbabwe has increased hand over fist.

National vehicular crime syndicates are operative on the South Africa/Zimbabwe borderline in Limpopo. Stolen vehicles are brought from as far as Cape Town and KwaZulu Natal and then smuggled to Zimbabwe across the Limpopo River.

Commercial explosives, used in Zimbabwe’s waning mining sector, in turn, find their way to South Africa and are then used in cash in transit heists and to blow up ATMs.

Moreover, illegal immigration puts immense pressure on local communities and the state coffers. The demand for housing seems insatiable and illegal immigrants only exacerbate the problem.

It increases social and political tension, leads to overpopulation and puts even more pressure on the already struggling public healthcare system.

According to the Global Peace Index, South Africa is the tenth most unsafe place in the world.

This index estimates that violent crime consumes as much as 19% of the country’s GDP. Approximately $76 billion, or R144 billion, is spent annually just on curbing violence.

The ANC government is failing miserably in fulfilling its duty to guard South Africa’s borders and protect its citizens. This makes the ruling party complicit in cross-border crimes and illegal immigration, which threaten state security.

The only way to restore law and order is to get rid of the ANC government.
