The FF Plus insists that all role-players involved in the Ferrobank water treatment project, amounting to R54 million, in the Emalahleni Local Municipality must be investigated.
The project commenced in February 2014 already but still has not been completed.
Meanwhile, the municipal council decided to lodge a criminal complaint of corruption against the head technical manager, Mr Mike Lelaka, for his alleged involvement in paying out the tender.
The Municipality (Kriel, Ogies, Phola, Emalahleni/Witbank) should, however, expand the investigation to include all role-players who have been involved in the exorbitant project.
The FF Plus will submit urgent questions to the municipal manager, Humphrey Sizwe Mayisela, to find out, among other things, how it is possible that the work has been signed off and the money paid out while the project has not yet been completed.
All role-players complicit in any irregularities must be criminally charged.
Too often, contractors and municipal officials are implicated in these kinds of issues, but engineering companies also play a significant role in making payments for incomplete municipal-funded projects.
So, the FF Plus will go out of its way to make sure that the right questions are being asked, and that the matter is investigated with the urgency and attention it deserves.
