The fact that South Africa refused to arrest someone that is guilty of war crimes goes to show that the ANC government does not value human rights and the people of South Africa need to take heed of this, says dr. Corné Mulder, FF Plus chief whip.
Dr. Mulder says that the ruling by the International Criminal Court (ICC) that South Africa had neglected its duty to arrest Al Bashir was to be expected.
He adds that it is worrisome that the South African government followed its own interpretation of the clear guidelines of the International Criminal Court knowing full well that it was in contravention of the Rome Statute.
“The International Criminal Court’s ruling confirms the findings of the South African courts. So it is obvious that the ANC government’s refusal to execute the International Criminal Court’s order was a deliberate act of defiance.
“South Africa has recently been downgraded to junk status with regard to our money matters. And now this. Our country may by branded with skunk status quite soon,” says dr. Mulder.
