The Freedom Front Plus launched an initiative to bring together experienced, retired and working expert technicians and engineers who can offer their expertise by serving on a technical advisory panel to address the power crisis in the Tshwane Metro.
This panel will assist the new administration, which will be in power in Tshwane following 4 November, in implementing an affordable maintenance and turnaround plan.
The panel’s brief will be to:
• conduct an independent, transparent audit of the high-voltage network;
• compile a priority list of repair work and capacity restoration that is feasible within the Metro’s means;
• make practical proposals for appointing and deploying qualified tradesmen rather than superfluous top-level officials;
• plan safe backfeed and load reduction until permanent repairs have been completed;
• join communities and the private sector in looking into utilising solar power and micronetworks when the Metro’s network cannot be restored quickly enough.
Interested persons with relevant high-voltage experience can send their details and a brief summary of their expertise to WillieSpies@tshwane.gov.za.
The panel will be appointed on merit and must be ready to commence work immediately so that a turnaround plan can be implemented after the elections.
On 4 November, voters will decide whether Pretoria will be a city with functioning substations, competent technicians and value for taxpayers’ money.
The Freedom Front Plus is ready to execute that mandate with the right people and an affordable plan.
