The FF Plus last night urgently called on the newly elected Premier of Limpopo, Ms Phophi Ramathuba, to make arrangements for providing additional assistance for fighting the veld fires currently raging in areas surrounding Tzaneen.
Firefighters have been trying to subdue veld fires in Magoebaskloof, George’s Valley and the Wolkberg Nature Reserve since Monday.
The party asked Ramathuba to deploy fire-fighting units from other areas to Tzaneen to provide additional assistance.
The FF Plus is, furthermore, calling on farmers in the surrounding areas to create and maintain the necessary fire-lines and -breaks to help curb veld fires, especially now that the fire season is at hand.
