Nico Nel has lived in Ashton the past 30 years where he has gained extensive local government experience, including serving as Town Clerk of Ashton, Municipal Manager of Langeberg and Municipal Manager of Swellendam. Since 2014, he has worked as a businessman, financial planner and external examiner in risk management. Nico currently serves as chairperson of the VF Plus branch in Ashton and is a member of the Winelands Regional Executive. Since 2014, he has represented the party as councillor on the Cape Winelands District Municipality.
“I want to use my knowledge and experience in municipal management to serve the residents of Ward 9. My focus is on good governance and accountability. Residents should be able to receive reliable and affordable service delivery, proper infrastructure and accurate municipal accounts. I want to address water and electricity supply, illegal dumping, road maintenance and effective town planning. Competent people should be appointed on merit, while unnecessary expenditure and corruption must be addressed. We deserve a safe community and a municipality that acts responsibly and remains accountable.”
