Hendrik “Hennie” Dercksen has lived in Koster for 15 years and is a trusted member of the community. He matriculated 1999 and completed Electrical N3. Since 2012 he has worked as a caretaker at the Gereformeerde Kerk Koster and the Uitspanning retirement village. His practical experience includes maintaining water systems, electrical repairs, building and residential-unit maintenance, and supporting residents. Hennie is adaptable, reliable and helpful, with local knowledge and technical problem-solving ability. He believes service begins with people who notice problems and personally help to put them right.
“I believe Kgetlengrivier must first repair and maintain what we already have. My daily work w taught me that small problems quickly become major crises when no one acts in time. Every pump, reservoir, power point, streetlight and essential component must be inspected, registered and managed according to a fixed maintenance programme. Service teams must be locally available and follow up complaints quickly. I want to use my practical knowledge to find solutions that work, so that residents do not have to cope for days without basic services and electricity.”
