Gerrie began his career in the office of the former Provincial Auditor before entering the municipal sector, where he advanced from accountant and deputy city treasurer to city clerk.
In 2008 he was appointed as Head of Administration at the Witbank City Council, where he also acted as Executive Director of Development Planning and Corporate Services until his retirement.
With his election to the municipal council, Gerrie intends to implement the VF Plus’s principles to ensure sustainable and accountable local governance.
“If I am elected to the municipal council, my first priority will be to embed the values of the VF Plus in the council, its members and staff.
Once that is achieved, we can implement the basic principles to create a stable and responsible working environment.”
