Daniël (Danny) Botha was born in Kimberley and grew up on a dairy farm. His parents were active in farming, education and mining. He lived in places such as Ulco, Lime Acres, Beeshoek, Kathu and Kimberley. He was privileged to be a member of the Drakensberg Boys Choir. Later he represented his country as a Springbok tug-of-war in various world championships. He qualified as a fitter and turner and electrician at YSKOR, Kathu. He also works in the Western Cape fruit industry and later in Kimberley in renewable energy.
“I currently find myself in De Aar, back among my people, where my ancestors came to tame the Karoo. The VF Plus is the only party with which I can identify myself. With their support, I want to serve our community. Training opportunities, safety and health are the three pillars that I would like to promote so that our overburdened community does not feel handicapped, but can grow independently. Renewable energy is our new “farming” that I want to fully utilize for our communities in Britstown, De Aar and Hanover.”
