During a meeting of the Tshwane Metro’s Portfolio Committee on Roads and Transport, the Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) supported the proposal that contractors who fail to meet the required standards be backlisted.
This includes contractors who are dishonest about their capabilities, manipulate procurement processes or abandon projects before completion.
The proposal was unanimously adopted by the entire Metro Council.
The Freedom Front Plus believes that contracts should be awarded on merit, and that the contractor selection process should be fair and transparent to eliminate wasteful expenditure, incompetence and corruption.
Contractors guilty of mismanagement and squandering taxpayers’ money should not be tolerated.
The Freedom Front Plus will closely monitor the processes and hold the administration accountable for awarding contracts where mismanagement occurs.
