The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) is calling on residents and landowners in the rural areas of Gauteng to increase vigilance after the farm attack on Mr Adriaan Vos just outside Westonaria on the night on 16 March 2025.
Mr. Vos was shot and seriously wounded during the attack and then his house was burnt to the ground.
The Freedom Front Plus met with Mr Vos on his farm today after his discharge from the Yusuf Dadoo Hospital in Krugersdorp yesterday.
The party also met with Westonaria’s police commander, Col. Nash.
The police only came to take a statement from Mr Vos on Sunday, 23 March, after the Freedom Front Plus had stepped in.
The residents of rural areas in Gauteng, like elsewhere in South Africa, are vulnerable to violence and crime incited by reckless statements made by politicians furthering their own agendas.
The police force is underfunded and does not have the capacity to effectively respond to incidents of crime, especially in rural areas.
Residents should secure themselves and their property within the constraints of the law by being proactive and joining rural safety forums.
