The Freedom Front Plus (VF Plus) congratulates Mariska Oosthuizen-van Tonder, a Freedom Front Plus councillor in the Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality (JB Marks and Matlosana, Maquassi Hills), on obtaining her Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Health Sciences with Nursing from the North-West University.
Dr Oosthuizen-van Tonder obtained her degree for developing the holistic Bloom Socio-Emotional Well-Being (SEWB) programme for preschool children (aged 3 to 5).
The programme is designed to equip parents and healthcare workers, among others, to identify any factors threatening children’s mental well-being and to take timely remedial action.
Oosthuizen-van Tonder’s Bloom programme fills a major gap in basic healthcare and early childhood development.
The Freedom Front Plus will see to it that Kenneth Kaunda communities benefit from this programme and will also promote its implementation nationwide.
